What every parent, fan, and player should know before the first whistle.

THE SETUP

What to Expect

Four fields running at once, music between whistles, and every kid getting their moment. Fall and Winter play Sundays at Mt. View High School — quality fields, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking with covered spaces. Spring plays Friday nights, with the venue announced each season.

A snack bar or food vendors are onsite most game days, varying by season and venue.

Where to Watch

Spectators stay outside the field perimeter — outside the fence line at Mt. View, and at least five yards back from the field anywhere there's no fence. Keep pop-up tents, chairs, and gear clear of the playing area on all sides.

Each team gets two coaches and one designated media person on the sideline. The media person — chosen by the head coach — can be a parent filming highlights to share with the whole team.

Our Referees

Our refs are teenagers who grew up playing flag football in this league — many of their parents are in the stands. Treat them with the same respect you'd want for your own son or daughter.

For concerns outside of judgment calls, find a league organizer — Coach Marcos or Coach Barrie — and we'll handle it.

GROUND RULES

Keep It Family

  • No drugs or alcohol on the premises at any time.
  • No fighting. Physical altercations mean removal from the league and possible prosecution.
  • Drive slowly in the parking lots, especially for evening games.
WEATHER

Rain or Shine

Games play as scheduled in rainy conditions. We only delay or postpone for nearby lightning strikes or severe weather.

GEAR & UNIFORMS

What Players Wear

  • Mouthguards are required to play. A limited supply is available at the league tent if you forget yours. Cleats are highly recommended.
  • Jerseys are reversible — home wears the dark side, away wears the light side. If team colors clearly contrast, teams may wear the color of their choice.
  • Every player receives a set of NFL popper flags.
  • Shorts with pockets must have the pockets taped.
  • No size exchanges on uniforms. If you registered late and your uniform hasn't arrived, wear a shirt in a similar color to your team's.
RULES

How We Play

We follow the official NFL Flag rulebook, with league adaptations:

  • Game clock — two 20-minute halves, running clock, 5-minute halftime. The clock stops only for timeouts, injuries, or the official's discretion. Playoff halves may shorten to 12 minutes.
  • Pass clock — the quarterback has 7 seconds to throw, and can't run.
  • Blitzing — starts in 10U and up, rushing from the 7-yard line. No blitzing in 6U or 8U.
  • No-run zones — in effect for 10U and up; they don't apply in 6U or 8U.
  • Mercy rule — at a 35-point lead in season games, 28 in playoffs.
  • Challenges — for rule misapplications only, never judgment calls. A lost challenge costs a timeout, and video is not used.
